UK Agrees to Discuss Air Peace Heathrow Slots

Responds to Keyamo’s letter on Air Peace’s Heathrow landing.

The aviation authorities of the United Kingdom (UK) have shown willingness to discuss the issue of slot allocation to Air Peace, Nigeria’s leading airline, in its tier-A airport in Heathrow, London.
In September 2024, the Nigerian minister for aviation and aerospace development, Festus Keyamo, wrote a diplomatic letter to the United Kingdom aviation controller seeking landing slots for Air Peace at the United Kingdom’s Choice airport in Heathrow.

Reacting to the written communication, Louise Haigh, the UK secretary of state for transport, affirmed that his department would be ready to “further talk about this matter” at the “upcoming International Civil Aviation Negotiations event in October 2024.”
This comes after the threat by the federal government to deny UK carriers slots at the Lagos and Abuja airports.
