Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, will face defeat at the upcoming November 16 governorship election in Ondo State.
Makinde, who serves as the South West leader for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), claimed that the ruling APC would face setbacks in Ondo and beyond, claiming that PDP is ready to secure victory in the South West. “APC has become a nemesis for Nigerians,” Makinde stated, emphasizing PDP’s strength in the region.
These remarks come in response to recent comments by APC’s Ganduje, who declared in Akure, Ondo’s capital, that the APC aims to dominate the South West states, starting with Ondo. Similarly, Ondo’s acting governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, had stated that the PDP no longer held influence in the state.
Speaking at a PDP campaign event in Akoko, Ondo State, Makinde dismissed APC’s claims, saying, “If wishes were horses, everybody would be riding them. The people of Ondo State will speak loud and clear on November 16.” He emphasized the enthusiasm among residents and assured supporters that the election outcome would demonstrate PDP’s strength in the South West.
