INEC to present certificate of return to Aiyedatiwa as the new elected Ondo state GOV this Wednesday

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced plans to issue certificates of return to Ondo State Governor-elect Lucky Aiyedatiwa and his deputy, Olayide Adelami.

The ceremony will take place on Wednesday at INEC’s headquarters in Abuja.

The Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, confirmed the development, saying, “The certificates of return will be presented by the commission to the governor-elect and his deputy on Wednesday.p, 20 Nov 2024

Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who is the current governor of Ondo State, was declared winner of the recently concluded gubernatorial election after securing 366,781 votes. He defeated the People’s Democratic Party candidate, Agboola Ajayi, who scored 117,845 votes.

However, the election outcome has sparked controversy. The PDP criticized the election as poorly conducted, while the All Progressives Congress dismissed the claims.

The Social Democratic Party also rejected the results. During a press conference in Akure on Monday, SDP Chairman Gbenga Akinbuli described the election as “a slap on democracy.”
