Retired workers of Chevron Nigeria Limited staged a protest at the company’s headquarters in Lagos on Tuesday, demanding better treatment and resolution of long-standing grievances.
The pensioners carried placards with messages such as “We say no to dissolution of CNCPFA,” “Chevron stop discrimination against retirees,” and “Chevron, treat us like other IOCs. Be considerate for once!”
Their complaints included delays in pension payments, alleged outsourcing of their pension funds, and what they described as a lack of respect for Nigerian laws.
One of the placards highlighted their concerns: “Breaking Nigerian law, disdain for pensioners, non-engagement of PenCom, and frozen pension for decades.”

The retirees also questioned whether Chevron had divested from Nigeria, asking for clarity on the company’s plans.

“We want Chevron to respect Nigerian laws and stop treating retirees unfairly,” one protester said. “Our pensions have been frozen for years, and it’s not acceptable.”

The group called for immediate action to address their grievances and urged Chevron to engage with the National Pension Commission to resolve their issues.
