In August 2023, Kennedy Ohanenye was appointed as the Minister of Women Affairs by President Bola Tinubu, succeeding Pauline Tallen then Kennedy-Ohanenye was however removed from Tinubu’s cabinet in October 2024, alongside four other former ministers.
The Ex Minister earned her Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1996 and was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 1997,which enable her to be a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, and also serves as the CEO of Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye & Co, where she provides legal services to individuals and corporations.

The ex-minister was seen in court, in a video shared on the social media.
Where she disclosed that she was in court to “support a four-year-old child who was allegedly defiled and sodomised by a teacher”.
